Four states, and the whole system behaves accordingly: availability, the calendar, the reports and the public website.
Blocked
In the workshop or held back for something. Cannot be rented on those dates, but it is still yours.
Sold
Out of the fleet from the date of sale. Stops counting forward and keeps counting in the past.
Given out
Handed over as a courtesy vehicle. Out of the fleet, exactly like a sold one.
And how many of each
The fleet filters by state, with the count beside it. Knowing how many vehicles are sitting in the workshop is reading a number, not counting by hand.
What each vehicle has actually earned
A profit and loss account for one plate, not for the model: what it brought in, what it cost, the balance, the days it spent rented, what it returns per hundred kilometres, and how long until it pays for itself.
The plate's own page
Everything that has happened to that specific vehicle, starting with what it is: model, state, mileage, purchase date, chassis number and where it is.
- History of assigned bookings, with what each one earned
- Costs, sorted into your own categories
- The vehicle's files, from the purchase to the last repair
The vehicle keeps the reminders, not somebody's memory
An alert fires at a given mileage or on a given date, says what it is about, and arms itself again every so many kilometres or every so many months.
